Biography
The Honourable Manon Jeannotte,
EMBA, ASC
Manon Jeannotte was appointed by Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau on December 7, 2023, and was sworn in as the 30th Lieutenant Governor of Québec on January 25, 2024, becoming the second woman and the first person of First Nations heritage to hold the office.
Known for her ability to build lasting partnerships, she has always placed great importance on human connection.
She approaches her mandate with both humility and confidence, committed to being generous with her time and bringing compassion and empathy to all her interactions. As a former Chief of the Micmac Nation of Gespeg, she also brings particular attention to reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.
Roots
Manon Jeannotte was born to a Mi'gmaq father and a mother of Jersey descent, whose ancestors arrived in Percé in 1801.
Education
Manon Jeannotte holds an EMBA from McGill University and HEC Montréal. She holds a Corporate Director certification (ASC) from Université Laval and has also completed a graduate micro-program in interculturalism in Québec from the Université de Sherbrooke.
Career
Prior to her appointment as the 30th Lieutenant Governor of Québec, the Honourable Manon Jeannotte served as Director of the École des dirigeants des Premières Nations at HEC Montréal, an institution she also co-founded.
Ms. Jeannotte made her mark above all within the Micmac Nation of Gespeg, first as a councillor from 2003 to 2008 and again from 2011 to 2015, before serving as Chief from 2015 to 2019.
Early in her career, she had the opportunity to write a brief on the presence of the Mi'gmaq in the Gaspésie region, which she presented to the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada. She was subsequently recruited through a pan-Canadian competition as part of an Indigenous recruitment program, joining Statistics Canada as an analyst.

She has also been actively engaged in numerous organizations and has served on several boards of directors:

- Member of the Board of Directors of the first federal Crown corporation, the First Nations Statistics Institute, where she served as Chair of the Human Resources and Policy Committee, 2007–2013
- Member of the Ad Hoc Committee on Indigenous Arts and Culture of Montreal, 2011–2012 and 2015
- Member of the Indigenous Advisory Circle of Statistics Canada, 2001–2002
Honours
Manon Jeannotte was named the most outstanding student of the McGill-HEC Montréal EMBA program by ROB Magazine in 2017.
She also received a certificate of recognition from the Council of Senior Federal Officials of Québec for her contribution to the partnership for the "Commemoration of the History of First Nations and Inuit in Québec."
