Honorary Aides-de-Camp
Honorary Aides-de-Camp and Their Contribution
The women and men who voluntarily accompany the Lieutenant Governor in the performance of her official duties hold the title of "honorary aide-de-camp." This tradition, well established since Confederation, also exists with the Governor General, the lieutenant governors of other provinces, and the territorial commissioners.
Present at official events, they also participate in the preparations by providing essential support to the organizers who welcome the Lieutenant Governor.
Aides-de-camp are officers drawn from the Canadian Armed Forces, police services, fire protection services, and ambulance services, as well as from the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem and various civilian organizations.
