Following numerous requests from First Nations, the presentation of the First Nations and Inuit Medals was temporarily paused in 2024 to allow for a reassessment of the process.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

This initiative aimed to realign the program so that it fully reflects the perspectives and expectations that had been expressed. With the redesign now complete, the First Peoples Medal will once again be presented in 2025.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The unveiling of the new design for the First Nations Medal<\/strong> and the return to the original artwork for the Inuit Medal<\/strong> took place on April 3, 2025. In a gesture rich with symbolism, the Lieutenant Governor presented the first two examples of the redesigned First Nations Medal to the artists who contributed to its creation: Julie Charland<\/strong>, an Innu woman from Pessamit, and Claudia Therrien<\/strong>, a Wendat woman from Wendake.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
