Manon Jeannotte was appointed by Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau on December 7, 2023, and was sworn in as the 30th<\/sup> Lieutenant Governor of Qu\u00e9bec on January 25, 2024, becoming the second woman and the first person of First Nations heritage to hold the office.<\/p>

Known for her ability to build lasting partnerships, she has always placed great importance on human connection.<\/p>

She approaches her mandate with both humility and confidence, committed to being generous with her time and bringing compassion and empathy to all her interactions. As a former Chief of the Micmac Nation of Gespeg, she also brings particular attention to reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Manon Jeannotte was born to a Mi'gmaq father and a mother of Jersey descent, whose ancestors arrived in Perc\u00e9 in 1801.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Manon Jeannotte holds an EMBA from McGill University and HEC Montr\u00e9al. She holds a Corporate Director certification (ASC) from Universit\u00e9 Laval and has also completed a graduate micro-program in interculturalism in Qu\u00e9bec from the Universit\u00e9 de Sherbrooke.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Prior to her appointment as the 30th<\/sup> Lieutenant Governor of Qu\u00e9bec, the Honourable Manon Jeannotte served as Director of the \u00c9cole des dirigeants des Premi\u00e8res Nations at HEC Montr\u00e9al, an institution she also co-founded.<\/p>

Ms. Jeannotte made her mark above all within the Micmac Nation of Gespeg, first as a councillor from 2003 to 2008 and again from 2011 to 2015, before serving as Chief from 2015 to 2019.<\/p>

Early in her career, she had the opportunity to write a brief on the presence of the Mi'gmaq in the Gasp\u00e9sie region, which she presented to the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada. She was subsequently recruited through a pan-Canadian competition as part of an Indigenous recruitment program, joining Statistics Canada as an analyst.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
